Aussie Broadband is a comprehensive telco provider, offering a range of NBN and mobile broadband plans. It’s also built a reputation for impressively fast NBN speeds, especially during peak traffic times. So, what exactly does Aussie Broadband offer, and how does it compare to other providers?

Aussie Broadband Plans Reviewed

What’s in a name? At a time when telcos have adopted all kinds of different monikers, jingles and mascots to attract customer attention, Aussie Broadband has gone back to basics. Their name is as simple as their ethos. They are a 100 percent Australian-owned company and they provide top-notch broadband to customers across our wide, brown land.

In doing so, their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Aussie Broadband was recognised at the 2018 CommsDay Edison Award for being Australia’s Best Broadband Provider. A 2018 finalist in the Australian Service Excellence Awards, Aussie Broadband has also been named one of 2018’s ‘Coolest Companies’ by Anthill.

Speed is one thing, but usability is another. Aussie Broadband is the only provider to offer a ‘congestion free’ NBN connection.

Aussie Broadband NBN Coverage

Aussie Broadband offers both fibre and fixed wireless NBN, with fixed line plans including FTTP, HFC, FTTN, FTTB and FTTC technologies.

As it stands, Aussie Broadband’s NBN coverage is largely reliant on its rollout. NBN is due for completion in 2021, and right now many capital cities and major regional hubs are already covered.

Fortunately, you can use Aussie Broadband’s address checker to determine both if you’re eligible for an NBN plan, and if so, what kind of technology is available in your area.

Aussie Broadband Features & Bonuses

Alongside NBN, Aussie Broadband offers a range of add-ons and extras, including home phone, entertainment, and hardware. The telco also provides mobile phone services, plus mobile broadband for on-the-go connections.

  • Home phone: Unlimited local, and national calling can be added to your plan for $10 extra per month, while unlimited local, national, and mobile calls are available for $20 per month.
  • Modems: You’re free to bring your own compatible modem to all Aussie Broadband plans, but pre-configured NBN modems are available to buy for $149 upfront.
  • Fetch TV: Customers can add Fetch TV to their Aussie Broadband account from $10 per month, with channel packs available from $6 per month.
  • Seniors plans: Aussie Broadband offers simple, home-phone-only or phone-plus-internet NBN plans for seniors and pensioners. These start at $35 per month for phone access and pay-as-you-go calls, up to $65 for 100GB of NBN 25 data and included local and national calling.
  • No excess data charges: There are no excess usage charges on NBN plans: instead, Aussie Broadband will slow (or ‘shape’) data download and upload speeds to 1Mbps once the monthly data allocation has been used. Speeds will return to normal when a new month and billing cycle begins.

Aussie Broadband sign up and connection process

Signing up for Aussie Broadband is fairly simple once you’ve worked out what plan is right for you and can be done online in minutes.

  1. Select the right plan for you above or below on this page
  2. Double check your address can get NBN on the Aussie Broadband site
  3. Pick whether you want to go month-to-month or a 24 month plan
  4. Select if you want add-ons such as a modem or Fetch TV box
  5. Pick your installation date (if needed)
  6. Done!

Once you’ve signed up online, it could either by hours or weeks until you’re online depending on whether or not you have an existing NBN connection. If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, you could be switched over to Aussie Broadband before you go to sleep that night.

However, if you have never had an NBN connection at your premises before, NBN will need to send out a technician to your home to get you connected. This could be in a few days or a few weeks depending on availability.

If you do need a technician, you will need to be home for them to install the NBN hardware for you. This usually takes less than one hour to do.
